Can Christians have healthy pride?

donald-trump

There are many differing opinions and contradicting thoughts (even in our own minds) about pride in the Christian community and the world at large. We hate overly prideful people, even though we love politicians, movie characters, and rappers who have money or chops and aren’t afraid to talk about it. I think that’s what they call “swagger”. We as Christians know pride to be the first sin ever committed, even predating the forbidden fruit, and yet we clean our houses before company comes, don’t eat fast food around our friends, overdress for job interviews, and do other things to keep up appearances in the service of our pride. Do we have “sexual needs”?

heart

Let’s think about why God created sex. Was it simply for temporal pleasure, or was it to procreate? Book Review – Talent is Overrated

talent-is-overrated

This book changed my life and outlook on life more than any other book outside of the Bible! Written in 2008 by Geoffrey Colvin and subtitled “What Really Separates World-Class Performers from Everybody Else”, this book tackles a huge question that we’ve all wondered and guessed at, but probably haven’t put our finger on: what makes some people great at something and other mediocre? Colvin takes on the popular, thoroughly ingrained idea that some people are just born with a particular skill and happen to discover it as a child, and that’s why they are rocking it and we aren’t.
